Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh data kesetimbangan uap-cair (VLE) sistem terner isotermal n-heptana/isooktana + 1-butanol + dietil karbonat pada temperatur 303.15 – 323.15 K yang akurat. Data eksperimen yang diperoleh dibandingkan dengan hasil prediksi menggunakan model UNIFAC, serta diprediksi dengan parameter biner model Wilson, NRTL, dan UNIQUAC dari penelitian-penelitian terdahulu. Peralatan eksperimen yang akan digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah ebulliometer sederhana yang telah dikembangkan di Laboratorium Thermodinamika Teknik Kimia ITS. Eksperimen diawali dengan mengukur tekanan uap murni komponen n-heptana dan isooktana. Kemudian dilakukan pengukuran tekanan uap campuran terner dua sistem. Data eksperimen untuk sistem n-heptana + 1-butanol + dietil karbonat yang dikorelasikan dengan model Wilson, NRTL, UNIQUAC, serta prediksi menggunakan model UNIFAC memberikan AAD berturut-turut sebesar 3,21%, 2,90%, 2,92%, dan 1,31%. Untuk sistem isooktana + 1-butanol + dietil karbonat memberikan AAD berturut-turut sebesar 3,47%, 3,05%, 2,92%, dan 1,21%. Perbandingan data eksperimen dengan prediksi model UNIFAC memberikan AAD terkecil, sehingga prediksi dengan model UNIFAC akurat pada sistem terner tersebut.

The objective of this research is to measure isothermal vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for ternary systems of n-heptane + 1-butanol + diethyl carbonate and isooctane + 1-butanol + diethyl carbonate at temperature 303.15 – 323.15 K accurately. The experimental data was compared with prediction using binary parameters of Wilson, NRTL, UNIQUAC based on former binary system experiments, and prediction using UNIFAC models. The experimental apparatus used in this study was a simple ebulliometer developed in Thermodynamics Laboratory of Chemical Engineering ITS. The experiment was started by measuring the pure component vapor pressure of n-heptane and Isooctane. Furthermore, the vapor pressure of two system of ternary mixture was measured. The experimental data for the n-heptane + 1-butanol + diethyl carbonate system were correlated with the Wilson, UNIQUAC, NRTL, and compared with the predictive data using UNIFAC models giving AAD of 3,21%, 2,90%, 2.92%, 1,31% respectively. For isooctane + 1-butanol + diethyl carbonate systems giving AAD of 3,47%, 3,05%, 2,92%, 1,21% respectively. Comparison of experimental data using UNIFAC model resulting the smallest AAD, hence, UNIFAC model is accurate for this ternary system.
