Abstract
Jalan Tol Pekanbaru-Dumai merupakan bagian dari Jalan Tol Trans Sumatera (JTTS) yang direncanakan membentang dari utara pulau Sumatera sampai selatan, menyambungkan provinsi Nangroe Aceh Darussalam sampai provinsi Lampung. Ruas ini adalah salah satu ruas yang terletak di provinsi Riau dan akan menghubungkan kota Pekanbaru (Ibukota Provinsi Riau) dengan kota Dumai. Melihat betapa pentingnya Jalan Tol Pekanbaru-Dumai ini, maka seharusnya memiliki fasilitas yang memadai bagi pengguna jalan.
Mobilitas merupakan pergerakan manusia dari satu tempat ke tempat lainnya. Pergerakan ini berkaitan erat dengan kepadatan dari kendaraan. Kepadatan kendaraan yang terjadi dapat mengakibatkan pengemudi kelelahan dan menyebabkan kecelakaan. Hal ini dikarenakan kondisi fisik pengemudi yang sudah tidak fit untuk melakukan perjalanan tersebut. Untuk mengurangi angka kecelakaan yang terjadi di jalan diambil kebijakan yaitu membangun tempat-tempat istirahat sesuai dengan jarak/interval dengan mempertimbangkan ketahanan pengemudi dalam berkendaraan.
Dengan potensi pengembangan agrobisnis serta status Dumai sebagai kota yang memiliki industri perminyakan yang maju, dan juga infrastruktur pelabuhan dan bandara yang bersifat internasional, maka pengunjung yang diharapkan akan hadir dalam konteks perancangan ini adalah pengunjung yang berasal dari luar maupun warga lokal sendiri. Maka dari itu diperlukannya sebuah identitas yang dapat memberikan kekhasan bagi perancangan akan membantu pengunjung dalam men- identifikasi area dari perancangan itu sendiri dengan cara melakukan reinterpretasi tradisi dari daerah tersebut.

Dumai-Pekanbaru highway, is part of the Trans-Sumatran Highway which is planned to run from North to South Sumatra, connecting Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam to the province of Lampung. This segment is one of the roads in the province of Riau, and connects the city of Pekanbaru (capital of Riau Province) and Dumai. See how important Dumai-Pekanbaru highway, then it should have adequate facilities for users of the road. Distances and relatively long road it's possible someone needed a place to take a break before continuing the journey to each destination.
Mobility is the movement of people from one place to another. The movement was closely related to the density of vehicles. The density of vehicles which occur can lead to driver fatigue and caused the accident. This is due to the physical condition of the driver was not fit to travel. To reduce the number of accidents that occur on the road taken policies i.e. build places of rest correspond to the distance/interval by considering the endurance driver in drive.
With the potential development of agro business and the status of the city as Dumai petroleum industry, and also the port and airport infrastructure that is international, so visitors who are expected to be present in the context This design is the visitors who come from outside as well as the local residents themselves. Therefore it needs an identity that can give distinctiveness to the design will assist visitors in identify the area of the design itself by reinterpretation of the tradition of the area.
