Abstract

Horizontal stabilizer pada pesawat terbang mempengaruhi gerak pesawat di sumbu pitch. Dengan itu, aspek aerodinamika dari horizontal stabilizer menjadi hal yang penting. Dalam penelitian ini, pengaruh posisi horizontal stabilizer pada ekor pesawat terbang N-2XX akan dianalisis nilai koefisen drag (Cd) dan lift nya (Cl). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah computational fluid dynamics (CFD) dengan perangkat lunak ANSYS 18.1. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk 3D. Pada penelitian ini, variasi geometri berjumlah tiga buah dengan defleksi elevator -30˚, -20˚, -10˚, 0˚, 10˚, 20˚ di setiap variasi geometrinya. Setelah simulasi CFD dilakukan, hasil yang didapat menunjukkan nilai Cd dan Cl akan naik seiring dengan adanya defleksi elevator. Nilai Cl pada defleksi 0˚ sudah memiliki nilai positif. Hal ini terjadi pada ketiga variasi posisi horizontal stabilizer. Kemudian penelitian ini juga menunjukkan nilai-nilai Cd dan Cl dari ekor pesawat terbang N-2XX yang berbeda-beda karakteristiknya pada setiap variasi posisi horizontal stabilizer.

Horizontal stabilizer on airplane will affect its motion on pitch axis. Therefore, aerodynamics aspect of horizontal stabilizer become the important thing. In this study, the effect of horizontal stabilizer position on N-2XX airplane tail will be anlayzed, especially in drag (Cd) and lift (Cl) coefficient. The method that will be used is computational fluid dynamics (CFD) using ANSYS 18.1. This study will do in 3-Dimension. In this study, geometry type is three variation with elevator deflection -30˚, -20˚, -10˚, 0˚, 10˚, 20˚ in each variation of geometry. After CFD simulation has done, the result shows the value of Cd and Cl will increase along elevator deflection. The value of Cl on 0˚ deflection has haven positive value. This case held on the three of variation of horizontal stabilizer position. Subsequently this study also shows the different characteristic of Cd and Cl’s values of N-2XX airplane tail on each variation of horizontal stabilizer position.
