Abstract

Sedangkan kondisi NLOS network coding mampu menaikkan throughput sebesar 21%.

A single relay selection scheme is used to select one of the best relay from multiple relays. The method used in determining the best relay is to choose the smallest BER. The concept of network coding is used to efficient bandwidth and increase throughput. In this research, the best relay selection with network coding scheme on real channel, WARP (Wireless Open Access Research Platform). We measure in outdoor and indoor environment. The measured parameters are BER and throughput. Based on measurements of relay selection and network coding with LOS and NLOS conditions and variation of distance between users, it was found that overall BER values of LOS are smaller than BER values of NLOS. The values of BER increase along measurement of distance increase. For comparison of network coding scheme and without network coding, it is found that in the measurement with LOS condition, the value of BER is 0.0004 when given a gain value of 40 or a transmit power level of -14.5 dBm, for network coding scheme. As for the condition without network coding, the value of BER is 0.0005 when given the same gain value. In the relay selection process, based on the relay location variation to the user shows that the best relay based on the smallest BER and the shortest distance (minimum distance), which is the relay closest to the user 1. Selection of the relay with the shortest distance minimizes the power level emitted thus the BER becomes smaller. The throughput of network coding is better than without using network coding, because network coding only need 3 timeslots for sending data from user 1 to user 2, in the other hand the condition without using network coding requires 4 timeslots. Network coding in LOS condition can increase throughput by 23% compared to without network coding. In NLOS, network coding can increase throughput by 21%.
