Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan data kesetimbangan
uap-cair sistem biner etanol (1)+eugenol(2) pada tekanan 400
mmHg dan atmosfer. Data yang diperoleh dikorelasikan dengan
persamaan NRTL dan UNIQUAC. Peralatan percobaan yang
digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah peralatan Othmer Still.
Peralatan telah divalidasi dengan cara mengukur suhu uap etanol
murni dan membandingkan hasil suhu uap dari persamaan
Antoine. Percobaan dilakukan dengan memanaskan larutan
etanol(1)+eugenol(2) dalam boiler pada Othmer Still dengan
komposisi tertentu. Percobaan dilakukan dalam kondisi sesuai
dengan variabel tekanan yang ditentukan. Proses pemanasan ini
terus berulang hingga sistem mencapai kondisi kesetimbangan
yang ditandai oleh suhu konstan di dalam boiler. Selanjutnya
sampel fase cair dan uap dianalisa dengan refraktometer guna
mengetahui komposisinya. Data percobaan kesetimbangan uap
cair sistem biner etanol(1)+eugenol(2) dapat dikorelasikan
dengan model NRTL dan UNIQUAC dengan Absolute Average
Relative Deviation (AARD) maksimal pada T dan y1 masingmasing
sebesar 7,525 % dan 2,69 %. Selain itu juga dilakukan
prediksi kesetimbangan uap-cair sistem biner etanol (1) +
eugenol(2) menggunakan UNIFAC yang menghasilkan AARD
maksimal pada T dan y1 masing-masing sebesar 9,261 % dan
1,742 %====================================================================The objective of this research was to measure vapor-liquid
equilibrium data for binary systems ethanol (1)+eugenol (2) at
400 mmHg and atmosphere. The experimental data were
correlated using NRTL and UNIQUAC equations. The
experimental apparatus used in this experiment was Othmer Still.
The validation of experimental apparatus were done by
measuring the vapor temperature of a pure ethanol, and
comparing the results of vapor temperature with the Antoine
equation. The experiment was carried out by heating ethanol
(1)+eugenol (2) in a boiler with a certain composition. The
experiments were conducted under conditions according to the
specified pressure variables. This heating process keeps
repeating until the system reaches an equilibrium condition
which characterized by constant temperature inside the boiler.
Then the samples of liquid and vapor were going to be analyzed
with a refractometer to know its composition. The experimental
data vapor-liquid equilibria for binary systems ethanol
(1)+eugenol (2) can correlated using NRTL and UNIQUAC
equations with the maximal value of Absolute Average Relative
Deviation (AARD) for T and y1 7,525 % and 2,69 %
respectively. Therefore the prediction of vapor-liquid equilibria
for binary systems ethanol (1) + eugenol (2) using UNIFAC
resulted the maxiaml value of AARD for T and y1 9.261% and
1.742% respectively
