Abstract
=======================================================================================================
Ocean wave is an alternate, clean and renewable energy that possess tremendous amount of potential that is very convenient to be converted into electricity. When fully utilized, it is capable of fulfilling around 40% of electricity demand in the world – it is believed to be equivalent to that of 800 nuclear power plants. As an archipelago country, there are many smaller region than others that are having hard times accessing centralized electricity, thus, they are tend to have lacked in many living aspect than other regions. But then, if we are to look out the surrounding geography condition in Indonesia which is surrounded by the ocean, it is very suitable to harness the bane into a boon, and that is the ocean wave energy. On a small scale, but with enough quantity, ocean wave kinetic energy is potentially converted into other form of useful energy, which is electricity, using the Overtopping Tapered Channel as a collector, where an area around the coast will be built a tapered channel that grow smaller as it ascend into an open reservoir above sea level. Seawater will then collected in an elevated reservoir. The potential energy from head difference can be channeled into canals that has turbines to make a good use of a generator to generate electricity. The generated electricity can be distributed to fulfill the demand of power for common people.
