Abstract

Tandan kosong kelapa sawit adalah salah satu produk sampingan berupa padatan dari industri pengolahan kelapa sawit. Ketersediaan tandan kosong kelapa sawit cukup signifikan bila ditinjau berdasarkan rata-rata jumlah produksi tandan kosong kelapa sawit terhadap total jumlah tandan buah segar yang diproses. TKKS mengandung kandungan selulosa sebesar 38% yang berpotensi dapat digunakan untuk bahan pembuatan bioethanol. Proses produksi dilakukan dengan menggunakan proses hidrolisa enzimatis dan fermentasi. Pabrik akan didirikan di Kabupaten Asahan, Sumatra Utara dengan pertimbangan kemudahan dalam mendapatkan bahan baku dan distribusi produk.
Dalam mendirikan suatu pabrik, perlu dilakukan seleksi dari beberapa proses yang ada. Proses pembuatan bioethanol menggunakan proses hidrolisis enzim dan fermentasi yang meliputi 4 tahap yaitu pretreatment, hidrolisa enzimatis, fermentasi, dan tahap pemurnian. Kadar ethanol yang dihasilkan adalah 99,5%.
Hasil dari perancangan Pabrik Bioethanol ini adalah bertempatkan di Kabupaten Asahan Sumatra Utara. Rancang pabrik ini beroperasi secara kontinyu selama 330 hari/tahun dan 24 jam/hari. Bahan baku Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit diambil dari pabrik minyak kelapa sawit dan bahan pendukung pabrik ini adalah air.

Empty bunches palm oil are one of the byproducts which are the solids of the palm oil processing industry. The availability of empty palm oil bunches is significant when viewed in an average number of oil palm empty fruit bunches production to the total number of fresh fruit bunches processed. TKKS found a 38% cellulose content that can be used for bioethanol making materials. The production process is done by using enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation process. The plant will be established in Asahan Regency, North Sumatra with the need in raw materials and product distribution.
In the development of the factory, it is necessary to select from several existing processes. The process of making bioethanol uses enzyme hydrolysis and fermentation process which includes 4 stages of pretreatment, enzyme hydrolysis, fermentation, and purification of intuation. The resulting ethanol content is 99.5%.
The result of this Bioethanol Factory expertise is located in North Sumatra's Asahan regency. The design of this factory is continuous for 330 days / year and 24 hours / day. The raw material of Palm Oil Bunches, taken from the palm oil mill and the supporting material of this plant is air.
