Abstract

The creative industries are one of the fastest growing sectors in the 21st century. In Indonesia itself, the rapid development of creative industry has an impact on increasing GDP, decreasing unemployment, increasing employment, improving economic prosperity of small and medium society. The creative industry is known as an industry with a higher level of innovation than any other industries. For that, the creative industries hve a fairly vulnerable corporate life cycle because these industries are always required to innovate, both in product innovation and in the process. This study aims to measure the level of innovation towards creative industries in Surabaya. The collection of indicators for measuring the level of innovation is derived from previous research. There are 7 dimensions and 30 individual indicators that are verified by the expert. The verified ideal indicators will be designed according to the dimensions of the Modified Multidimensional Innovation Index (MMII) method framework, then weighted on each indicator using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Measurements were made to respondents who are the owner or manager of the creative industry sector selected to obtain innovation index through media of questionnaire.. The results showed that 7 factors and 28 indicators have been verified by the expert by eliminating the 2 indicators. The research also find weighting results for each indicator from the most important are Marketing (M), Human Resources (HR), Strategy and Organization (SI), Processes and Infrastructure (PI), Finance (F), Knowledge and Technology (KT) and last Economic Effect (EE). The measurement result of innovation level of creative industry in Surabaya in culinary sector is 0.75433, 1 innovative industry with value 0.053 and 14 others categorized innovative with highest value 0.997.
