Abstract
NaOH atau caustic soda merupakan salah satu bahan kimia dasar yang memiliki peranan penting pada proses produksi, berbagai industi di Indonesia. Kebutuhan NaOH di Indonesia cukup tinggi dan mengalami peningkatan dari tahun ke tahun namun produksi dalam negeri NaOH belum mencukupi kebutuhan dalam negeri. Perkiraan kebutuhan NaOH di Indonesi pada tahun 2020 sebesar 704.815,3 ton/tahun. Semakin besarnya kebutuhan NaOH di Indonesia memberikan peluang untuk didirikan sebuah pabrik NaOH. Proses pembuatan NaOH dari garam NaCl dilakukan melalui 4 tahap. Tahap pertama adalah tahap pretreatment digunakan untuk memurnikan garam NaCl dengan proses klarifier, filtrasi dengan sand filter dan plate and frame filter, serta Proses pertukaran ion dengan kation dan anion exchanger. Tahap kedua adalah pembuatan NaOH dengan proses elektrolisis dengan ion exchange membrane sebagai transportasi kation Na+ untuk direaksikan dengan ion OH-. Tahap ketiga adalah tahap pemekatan, yang dilakukan menggunakan multiple effect evaporator untuk menghasilkan NaOH cair 50%. Tahap terakhir adalah tahap pembentukan NaOH prilling, yang dilakukan pada spray tower deangan menghsilkan produk NaOH 98%. Pabrik Pabrik ini direncanakan beroperasi secara kontinyu selama 330 hari/tahun dengan basis 24 jam/hari. Bahan baku garam NaCl sebanyak 23968,9 kg/jam. Kebutuhan utilitasnya adalah air sanitasi, air pendingin, air boiler dan air proses.

NaOH or Caustic soda is one of the basic chemicals that have
an important role in the production process, various industi in Indonesia.
The need for NaOH in Indonesia is quite high and increase from year to
year but the
domestic production of NaOH has not been sufficient for
domestic needs. Estimated requirement of NaOH in Indonesi by 2020
amounted to 704,815.3 tons / year. The growing need for NaOH in
Indonesia provides an opportunity for the establishment of a NaOH pla
nt.
The process of making NaOH from NaCl salt is carried out in 4 stages.
The first stage is the pretreatment stage used to purify the NaCl salt by
clarifier process, filtration with sand filter and plate and frame filter, and
ion exchange process with cat
ion and anion exchanger. The second stage
is the making of NaOH by electrolysis process w
ith ion exchange membrane as Na+ cation transport to be reacted with OH-ion. The third stage is the concentration step, which is carried out using multiple effect evaporator to produce 50% liquid NaOH. The last stage is the formation stage of NaOH prilling, which is done on the spray tower deangan mengsilkan 98% NaOH product. Factory The plant is planned to operate continuously for 330 days / year on a 24 hour / day basis. The raw material of NaCl salt is 23968,9 kg / hour. Its utility needs are water sanitation, cooling water, boiler water and process water.
