Abstract

Surabaya merupakan kota yang yang perekonomiannya selalu bertumbuh dari tahun ke tahun. Seiring dengan pertumbuhan perekonomian di Surabaya, faktor-faktor penentunya juga perlu bertumbuh secara selaras agar terjadi keseimbangan yang berkesinambungan. Sehubungan dengan pertumbuhan perekonomian di Surabaya tersebut, kuantitas dan kualitas tenaga kerja di Surabaya saat ini menjadi perlu ditingkatkan. Oleh karenanya, salah satu cara untuk akselesari upaya peningkatan kuantitas dan kualitas tenaga kerja di Surabaya adalah dengan mengadakan program sertifikasi kompetensi yang terakomodasi pada sebuah tempat pelatihan vokasi.
Dengan menggunakan metode inquiry by design serta pendekatan teori space and place dan hirarki kebutuhan, obyek rancang mempunyai tujuan untuk menekan jumlah pencari kerja dengan cara meningkatkan potensinya dalam mendapatakan pekerjaan, serta meningkatkan etos para pekerja melalui suatu desain tempat pelatihan. Fasilitas pelatihan bisa diakses secara visual oleh masyarakat pada umumnya dan pengusaha pada khususnya. Di sisi lain, produk pelatihan juga bisa dinikmati secara langsung, sehingga mereka bisa menilai kompetensi peserta pelatihan secara kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik. Hal ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan motivasi peserta pelatihan, sekaligus memberi manfaat bagi pihak eksternal terutama masyarakat dan perusahaan (lapangan kerja).

Surabaya is a city with consistent economic annual growth. Along with it, the growing factors also need to be well developed in purpose to create balance and sustainable development. Related with the Surabaya economic growth, quantity and quality of workers in Surabaya become important to be increased. Therefore, one of accelerators to increase the quantity and quality of Surabaya workers is by accommodating certification program which held in a vocational training center.
By using ‘inquiry by design’ method, ‘space and place’ theory and ‘hierarchy of humans needs’, the training center is purposed to minimize the number of job seeker by developing their competitiveness to be selected in a job, and to build their work ethic which is encouraged by the building design. The training facilities can be visually accessed by public and particularly professionals. Besides, the product from training also can be directly experienced by people, so they can make evaluation toward the training students cognitive, affective and phsycomotoric. It is not only purposed to increase the students motivation, but also benefits the external people especially company (job recruiter).
