Abstract

Sejak 2013 ITS Team Sapuangin telah mengikuti kompetisi Student Formula Japan dan salah satu permasalahan yang sering dialami adalah panas berlebih pada mesin terutama saat kendaraan dipacu secara kontinu. makalah ini dilakukan dengan eksperimen menyusun perangkat uji untuk menguji performa radiator dalam melepas panas dengan variasi pada sudut pemasangan radiator terhadap arah aliran udara dan luas area ducting pada bagian inlet radiator. Sudut pemasangan pada sudut 〖45〗^o, 〖60〗^o, 〖75〗^o dan 〖90〗^o. Luas area pada bagian inlet radiator akan divariasikan pada 100%, 75% dan 50% dari luas penampang radiator menggunakan ducting. Metode pengambilan dilakukan dengan mengukur panas pada sisi keluar ,masuk air dan udara menggunakan termokopel Dari percobaan ini didapatkan laju perpindahan panas maksimum ada pada sudut pemasangan 90o sebesar 11kW dengan nilai effectiveness sebesar 0,451 dan terjadi pada debit air maksimum 28 LPM atau setara dengan 0,47 kg/s. Sedangkan pada sudut 75o pada debit 28 LPM mengalami penurunan laju perpindahan panas menjadi 9 kW, dan sudut 60opada debit 28 LPM mengalami penurunan menjadi 8,35 kW. Dan pada sudut 45openurunan laju perpindahan panas menjadi sebesar 7 kW. Dari hasil eksperimen didapatkan bahwa perpindahan panas terbesar ada pada AR = 1 dengan nilai sebesar 8,15 kW , Pada AR = 0,75 didapatkan nilai laju perpindahan panas sebesar 7,62 kW menurun sebesar 6,5 %. Sedangkan pada AR = 0,5 laju perpindahan panas berkurang sebesar 14,1% menjadi 7 kW ============================================================ Since 2013 ITS Team Sapuangin have been in the competition of student formula japan, and one of the main problem that keeps occuring is overheating problem from the engine especially when engine is in high load operation for a long time. This final project will be done by building a test apparatus for the radiator of sapuangin speed VI to evaluate the radiator performannce in rejecting heat. The method for data aquisition will be done by measuring the temperature at the inlet and outlet of the air and water side radiator using thermocouple. Flow of water from the pump is measured using flow meter. This final project is done using experimental method by making a test apparatus to test the performance of the radiator to reject heat by varying the instalation angle and area ratio of the ducting that will be installed to the radiator at the inlet side. The variation of the instalation angle in which the experiment will be done is at 〖45〗^o, 〖60〗^o, 〖75〗^o and 〖90〗^o. and the inlet area ratio of 100%, 75%, 50%. From the experiment it has been found that the radiator best performance is at 90o instalation angle with the effectiveness value of 0,451 and heat rejection of 11 kW which happens at highest water flow rate of 28 LPM. At 75o the heat transfer rate has the value of 9 kW, at 60o the heat transfer rate has the value of 8,35 kW and at 45o the heat transfer rate value has the value of 7 kW. From the experiment it has been found that the highest heat transfer rate is at AR = 1 with the value of 8,15 kW, at AR = 9,75 the heat transfer rate is 7,62 kW which has decreased as much as 6,5% compared to AR =1 and at AR = 0,5 the heat transfer rate value is 7 kW the value has decreased as much as 14,1 % .
