Abstract
Polusi udara merupakan ancaman serius bagi lingkungan dan kesehatan, tidak terkecuali polusi udara yang ditimbulkan oleh gas buang alat transportasi. 25 juta metric ton NOx dihasilkan melalui aktivitas di sektor perkapalan. Berbagai upaya mereduksi emisi dilakukan untuk menekan laju emisi NOx, diantaranya adalah dengan menggunakan katalis dan injeksi larutan urea atau ammonia. Namun peranan katalis secara optimal dalam mereduksi NOx terbatas pada rentang temperatur tertentu. Oleh karena itu, dalam penelitian ini dilakukan penggabungan dua jenis katalis agar memperoleh rentang temperatur kerja optimal yang relatif luas. Pembuatan katalis memadukan material bentonit sebagai pengemban, sedangkan logam besi dan tembaga ditambahkan sebagai material pengisi. Dalam penilitian ini dilakukan percobaan menggunakan motor diesel satu silinder Yanmar TF85 MH-di. Percobaan dilakukan dengan membandingkan kadar emisi gas buang NOx pada kondisi motor bakar diberikan katalis dan injeksi urea dengan tanpa menggunakan katalis dan injeksi urea. Adapun katalis yang digunakan adalah campuran bentonit, tembaga, dan besi. Hasil percobaan, penggunaan katalis bentonit besi dan tembaga adalah yang paling efektif dibanding jeni katalis yang lainnya dalam mereduksi emisi NOx. Dalam percobaan pada kecepatan motor diesel 2200 RPM dan variasi beban 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, proentase reduksi NOx berturut-turut sebesar 88.41%, 96.14%, 99.46%, dan 99.9%.

Air pollution becomes serious threat to the environment and health, includes the air pollution caused by exhaust gas from various transportation. 25 million metric tons of NOx is generated through activity in the shipping sector. Various efforts to reduce emissions are made to reduce the rate of NOx emissions, for example is by using a catalyst and injection of urea or ammonia solution. However, the optimal catalyst role in reducing NOx is limited to a certain temperature range. Therefore, in this study conducted by combinate two types of catalyst in order to obtain a relatively wide range of optimal working temperature. The preparation of the catalyst also combinate clay material as a carrier, while ferrous and copper metals are added as filler material. This experiment use a single-cylinder diesel engine Yanmar TF85 MH-di. The experiments were conducted by comparing the exhaust emission level of NOx on diesel motor conditions given catalyst and urea injection without using catalyst and urea injection. The catalyst to be used in this experiment is a mixture of clay, copper, and iron. Using of iron and copper clay catalysts is the most effective catalysts in reducing NOx emissions. In the experiments at 2200 RPM diesel motor speed and 25% load variations, 50%, 75%, 100%, NOx reduction percentages were 88.41%, 96.14%, 99.46%, and 100%, respectively.
