Abstract

Paduan aluminium 2024 banyak digunakan dalam pembuatan elemen pada pesawat seperti skin wing pesawat. Proses ini terdiri dari solution treatment, quenching, rolling dan natural aging . Hasil dari proses cold working adalah paduan aluminium 2024 seri T3. Paduan aluminium 2024 T3 ini tidak memenuhi standar sebagai bahan pembuatan skin wing pesawat. Untuk meningkatkan kualitas baik dalam hal sifat mekanik, konduktivitas listrik dan ketahanan korosi pada paduan aluminium 2024 T3 tersebut dilakukanlah proses cladding dan aging. Proses aging yang dilalui adalah solution treatment selama 40 menit, quenching dengan media air serta quenching delay selama 10 detik dan natural aging selama 96 jam. Proses Cladding berupa pelapisan atas bawah dengan menggunakan aluminium murni dimana paduan aluminium T3 sebagai core. Adapun tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh cladding dan aging pada paduan aluminium 2024 T3 terhadap sifat mekanik, konduktivitas listrik dan ketahanan korosi. Paduan aluminium 2024 T3 melalui proses aging menghasilkan material paduan aluminium 2024 T42 Bare. Paduan aluminium 2024 T3 melalui proses aging dan cladding menghasilkan material paduan aluminium 2024 T42 Clad. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh cladding dan aging terhadap sifat mekanik, konduktivitas listrik dan ketahanan korosi dilakukanlah pengujian tarik, pengujian kekerasan, pengujian konduktivitas listrik, pengujian metalografi, pengujian intergranullar corrosion dan pengujian stress corrosion cracking. Proses solution treatment dan aging yang dialami paduan aluminium 2024 tanpa cladding (T42 Bare) dan 2024 dengan cladding (T42 Clad) meningkatkan ketahanan korosi, ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, elongation after fracture, tetapi menurunkan nilai konduktivitas listrik dan memiliki kekerasan yang tidak jauh berbeda. Proses cladding mengggunakan aluminium murni menyebabkan nilai konduktivitas listrik, dan elongation after fracture pada paduan aluminium 2024 dengan cladding (T42 Clad) lebih tinggi daripada paduan aluminium 2024 tanpa cladding (T42 Bare). Nilai ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, dan kekerasan dari paduan aluminium 2024 dengan cladding (T42 Clad) yang dihasilkan tidak jauh berbeda. Hal ini sesuai dengan standar pembuatan underside skin panel dan skin panel pada skin wing pesawat. This process consists of solution treatment, quenching, rolling and natural aging. The result of cold working process is aluminum alloy 2024 T3. The aluminum alloy 2024 T3 does not compatible with standards as the material for making aircraft skin wing. To improve the quality both in terms of mechanical properties, electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance in aluminum alloyS 2024 T3 cladding and aging process has been done. Aging process consist of 40 minutes solution treatment, quenching in water medium with quenching delay for 10 seconds and natural aging for 96 hours. Cladding process consist of upper and bottom layer coating by using pure aluminum which aluminum alloys T3 as core. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of cladding and aging on aluminum alloy 2024 T3 on mechanical properties, electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance. Aluminum alloys 2024 T3 through solution treatment and aging process produces aluminum alloys 2024 T42 Bare. Aluminum alloys 2024 T3 through solution treatmen, aging and cladding process produces aluminum alloys 2024 T42 Clad., tensile test, hardness test, electrical conductivity test, metallographic test, intergranullar corrosion test and stress corrosion cracking test has been done to determine the effect of cladding and aging on mechanical properties, electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance. Solution treatment and aging process which has been done to aluminum alloys 2024 without cladding (T42 Bare) and 2024 with cladding (T42 Clad) can improve corrosion resistance, ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, elongation after fracture, but hardness value are not much different and decrease electrical conductivity. The cladding process using pure aluminum causes the value of electrical conductivity, and elongation after fracture in aluminum alloy 2024 with cladding (T42 Clad) higher than aluminum alloy 2024 without cladding (T42 Bare). While the ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, and hardness of aluminum alloy 2024 with cladding (T42 Clad) are not much different.This is compatible with standards for making underside skin panel and skin panel on aircraft skin wing.
