Abstract

Kementerian Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral mencatat pada tahun 2016, Indonesia memiliki potensi energi hidro sebesar 75 giga watt. Oleh karena itu, penelitian mengenai potensi hidrokinetik di PLTA Balambano PT Vale Indonesia ini dilakukan. Tujuannya adalah untuk mengetahui potensi hidrokinetik pada outflow turbin generator PLTA Balambano dan untuk mengurangi penggerusan yang terjadi di dinding muka draft tube. Untuk mengurangi penggerusan, penulis menggunakan tiga variasi kemiriangan dinding muka draft tube terhadap dasar sungai, yaitu 90, 105, dan 120 derajat. Data yang diambil dari lokasi berupa data kecepatan di dua penampang melintang sungai, dan data kedalaman sungai. Selanjutnya, data tersebut diolah menggunakan metode computational fluid dynamic untuk mendapatkan profil alirannya.
Berdasarkan hasil simulasi yang telah dilakukan, penampang B1 memiliki potensi hidrokinetik sebesar 180 W/m2. Sedangkan penampang B2 memiliki potensi hidrokinetik sebesar 240 – 270 W/m2. Dari 3 variasi sudut kemiringan dinding draft tube terhadap dasar sungai yang paling efektif untuk mengurangi penggerusan adalah 120 derajat.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources noted in 2016, Indonesia has 75 giga watts of hydro energy potential. Therefore, research on hydrokinetic potential in Balambano hydro power PT Vale Indonesia is done. The objective is to know the hydrokinetic potential from outflow of turbine generator Balambano hydropower and to reduce the scouring on the wall in front of draft tube. The authors used three slope variations of stilling basin wall against the river bed, ie 90, 105, and 120 degree. Data that taken from the site are water velocity in two cross-sectional, and river depth bathimetri. Furthermore, Data processed using computational fluid dynamic method to get the water flow profile.
Based on the result of the simulation, cross section B1 has a hydrokinetic potential of 180 W/m2. While the second cross-section has a hydrokinetic potential of 240 - 270 W/m2.
