Abstract

Kebijakan dalam proses pembelajaran berdasarkan kurikulum 2018 menetapkan mata kuliah basic science sebagai mata kuliah yang wajib diambil oleh mahasiswa di setiap prodi yang tergabung dalam ilmu teknik dan ilmu formal, dengan alasan bahwa matakuliah basic science membuat pola pikir mahasiswa lebih komprehensif dalam memandang suatu permasalahan. Pendapat tersebut masih berupa opini dan belum ada kajian secara ilmiah terkait hal tersebut. Penelitian ini berguna untuk menguji opini atau dugaan yang telah disebutkan dengan menggunakan metode Kruskal-Wallis kemudian dilanjutkan dengan analisis menggunakan Mann-Whitney dan Regresi berganda dengan variabel Dummy. Hasil dari analisis didapatkan bahwa kemampuan mahasiswa basic science dan non-basic science memiliki perbedaan nilai IPK yang dimana nilai IPK departemen dengan kelompok non-basic sciences memiliki nilai IPK lebih tinggi daripada nilai IPK departemen basic science. Hasil dari analis menggunakan metode regresi yang dilakukan menunjukkan hasil bahwa variabel skor TPA, nilai mata kuliah fisika dan nilai mata kuliah kimia berpengaruh signifikan terhadap model dan mampu merepresentasikan model sebesar 69,5%, tetapi masih terdapat pelanggaran terhadap asumsi klasik yang tidak dapat ditanggulangi setelah dilakukannya data cleaning.

The policy in the learning process based on the curriculum of 2018 sets the course of Basic Science as a compulsory course that must be taken by students in each study program which is incorporated in the science and engineering of formal science, on the grounds that the subjects of Basic Science make the mindset of students more comprehensive in looking at a problem. Opinion is still an opinion and there is no scientific study related to it. This research is useful to test the opinions or guesses that have been mentioned by using Kruskal-Wallis method then continued with analysis using Mann-Whitney and Multiple Regression with Dummy variable. The result of the analysis found that the ability of basic science and non-basic science students have a significant difference of GPA value where the value of GPA department with non-basic science group has a higher GPA value than the GPA of basic science department. The result of analyst using regression method showed the result that Variable score of Academic Potential Test, physics course grade and chemistry course value significantly influence the model and variable able to represent model equal to 65,3%, but still there are violation to classical assumption which can not be overcome after done cleaning data.
