Abstract
Air limbah domestik yang berasal dari rumah tangga
menyebabkan berbagai persoalan lingkungan seperti
pencemaran Kali Surabaya, peningkatan biaya pengolahan air
minum oleh perusahaan daerah setempat dan menurunnya
tingkat kesehatan masyarakat. Adanya persoalan ini mendorong
terbentuknya suatu sistem pengolahan air limbah yang bersifat
terintegrasi. Sistem yang ditawarkan merupakan suatu sistem
pengelolaan air limbah domestik yang meliputi penyaluran serta
pengolahan air limbah domestik, berupa grey water dan black
water. Penyaluran air limbah didesain terpisah dengan air hujan
dengan tujuan mengurangi resiko kontaminasi air limbah pada
tubuh manusia sedangkan instalasi pengolahan yang digunakan
adalah anaerobic baffled reactor (ABR). Unit ABR dipilih karena
memiliki efisiensi yang tinggi serta biaya investasi yang rendah,
baik investasi bangunan maupun pengoperasian dan perawatan
bangunan. Pada perencanaan ini, efisiensi dari ABR adalah 76%
dengan jumlah chamber sebanyak 6 buah. Selain itu, ABR tidak
memerlukan tenaga ahli untuk pengoperasiannya karena
tergolong mudah untuk dilakukan. Dengan adanya pengelolaan
air limbah domestik ini, diharapkan pencemaran lingkungan dapat
dikurangi dan taraf kesehatan masyarakat dapat meningkat.

Water is one of a household domestic waste that can
cause problems such as pollution in Surabaya river, increased
cost of drinking water processing, and decreased health level
of affected community. Based on this problem, it is important
to create an integrated waste water processing system. This
domestic wastewater management system consist of
distribution plant and processing plant of grey water and the
black one. The distribution of wastewater must be separated
from the rain water with reason to reduce contamination risk on
human body, on the other hand processing installation plant
itself could use anaerobic baffled reactor (ABR). ABR is
chosen for its high efficiency and low cost investment including
its construction and operation. In this plan the ABR efficiency
is about 76% by using 6 chambers. The other reason is
reducing the involvement of experts because of its easy
operation. By installing this domestic wastewater management
system, we could expect on decreasing environment pollution
and increasing community health.
