Abstract
Kereta api menjadi salah satu transportasi massal yang saat ini sedang berkembang dan diminati masyarakat dimana manusia menuntut kesegeraan, real-time dengan mobilitas tinggi. Peningkatan standarisasi kelas kereta api pun dilakukan untuk meningkatkan pelayanan, dalam keamanan serta kenyamanan penumpang kereta api selama perjalanan terlebih untuk penumpang dengan tujuan jarak jauh. Fasilitas untuk beristirahat menjadi kebutuhan terpenting untuk kenyamanan terlebih ketika tidur, dimana kelas terbaik pada kereta api Indonesia saat ini masih berupa kereta duduk. Di Indonesia sendiri PT.KAI pernah memiliki gerbong tidur Bima (Surabaya-Jakarta) pada tahun 1967, dan diubah menjadi gerbong duduk pada tahun 1995 dengan alasan adanya masalah sosial. Gerbong tidur Bima sendiri berupa bilik-bilik kamar tertutup yang menjadi alasan timbulnya permasalahan sosial tersebut. Untuk itu perlu adanya desain yang mampu menyelesaikan permasalahan yang telah terjadi serta meningkatkan fasilitas untuk beristirahat tanpa mengurangi privasi penumpang selama perjalanan. Proses desain produk dilakukan dalam beberapa studi dan analisis yang berhubungan dengan rangkaian riset diantaranya : Track, Lopas, Visual, yang diwujudkan dalam konsep desain nyaman dan minimalis. Brand value yang ingin dicapai : Comfort, Privatly, Hospitality dan More Space. Diharapkan konsep tersebut dapat menjadi referensi desain pihak terkait (PT.INKA, PT.KAI, dan instasi lain) yang dapat diterapkan, serta diterima oleh publik sebagai fasilitas alternative pada untuk perjalanan jarak jauh.

Increased standardization of railway classes ever done to improve services, in security as well as the comfort of the train passengers during travel especially for passengers with long range goals. Facilities for rest becomes the most important needs for comfort especially when sleep, where the best grade on Indonesia's current railway was a train seat. In Indonesia alone, PT. KAI had beds Stephen Hopper (Surabaya-Jakarta) in 1967, and converted into the hopper sat in 1995 by reason of the existence of social problems. Bhima's own form of sleeping carriages booths closed rooms is the reason the incidence of social problems. For it is necessary the presence of design that is able to resolve the problems that have occurred and to improve facilities for resting without compromising the privacy of passengers during the trip. The product design process is performed in several studies and analyses related to the series of research including: Track, Lopas, Visual, which is embodied in the concept of minimalist and cozy design. Brand value to be achieved: Comfort, Privatly, Hospitality and More Space. It is expected that concept can be a reference to the design of related parties (PT. INKA, PT. KAI instasi, and others) that can be applied, and was accepted by the public as an alternative to long-distance travel.
