Abstract

Build Up pada pengelasan dilakukan karena terjadi ketidak sesuaian
pada jarak gap pengelasan yang menyebabkan proses
penyambungan sulit dilakukan.
Langkah awal
dari penelitian dimulai dengan membuat 3 variasi pengelasan
sebagai simulasi Build Up, pengelasan pertama adalah pengelasan
dengan jarak gap normal yaitu 3 mm, selanjutnya pengelasan dengan
sambungan Build Up 4 mm dan yang terakhir Build Up 5 mm.
Proses pengelasan menggunakan pengelasan SMAW. Dari simulasi
tersebut dilanjutkan dengan pembuatan specimen uji, pengujian
menggunakan pengujian Tarik (Tensile Test) dan Micro Etsa untuk
melihat structure micro hasil sambungan pengelasan. Berdasarkan

Build Up to the welding is done because there is a discrepancy in the
gap welding which causes the splicing difficult process. Distance
corresponding root gap welding is ± 3 mm, the distance of the weld
root or root will appear perfectly and as it is the connection will get
better and if the distance is greater than the risk of weld defects will
lead to greater and can also lower the strength of the welding
connection. The initial step of the research began by making three
variations of welding as simulation Build Up, the first weld is
welding with normal gap distance is about 3 mm, then welding the
connection Build Up last 4 mm and 5 mm Build Up. Welding
process using SMAW. From the simulation is continued with the
creation of the test specimen, the test using Pull test (Tensile Test)
and Micro Etching to see the structure of micro welding connection
results. Based on the test results obtained data with the value of the
biggest test is in normal welding conditions gap of 3 mm with a
value of tensile test 508.80 MPa, micro structure obtained
demonstrate the value of Ferrite and Pearlite in the HAZ and weld
metal area of Ferrite 20.62% and Pearlite 79, 38% in the HAZ area
and Ferrite and Pearlite 81, 35% 18, 65% in the area of weld metal.
