Abstract

Departemen Teknik Elektro adalah salah satu departemen terbesar dan tertua di ITS. Saat ini, Departemen Teknik Elektro berada dalam naungan Fakultas Teknik Elektro (FTE). Departemen ini menerima sekitar 160 mahasiswa program sarjana setiap tahunnya. Alumni Departemen Teknik Elektro ITS pun telah berkiprah dalam menyelesaikan persoalan di tanah air.

Meskipun Departemen Teknik Elektro termasuk departemen terbaik di ITS, terdapat beberapa masalah terkait tata ruang pada gedung kampusnya. Permasalahan tersebut adalah sirkulasi ruang yang belum terorganisasi dengan baik, sarana pembelajaran yang diletakkan bukan pada tempatnya, serta kondisi beberapa sarana prasarana yang belum berfungsi secara maksimal karena beberapa sarana prasarana tersebut sudah lama dan usang. Dari masalah-masalah tersebut, diperlukan mutu sarana prasarana yang sudah ada ditingkatkan serta fasilitas tambahan perlu diberikan agar menunjang proses pembelajaran dan kegiatan lainnya.

Langkah yang dilakukan adalah me-redesain departemen tersebut dengan konsep “Modern Smart-Eco Interior”. Konsep ini mengutamakan fungsi dan efektivitas penggunaan yang memadukan desain interior dengan penggunaan teknologi dan sistem penghematan energi pada bangunan untuk pengelolaan energi yang lebih efisien. Dengan konsep tersebut, diharapkan permasalahan yang terdapat pada gedung kampus dapat terselesaikan sehingga kegiatan pembelajaran berjalan lebih optimal sekaligus meningkatkan citra Departemen Teknik Elektro ITS yang baik kepada masyarakat.

The Department of Electrical Engineering (DTE) is one of the largest and the oldest department at Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) in Surabaya. Currently, DTE is part of Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FTE). This department receives around 160 undergraduate students every year. The Alumni of DTE also has been involved in solving problems in this country.

Although DTE is one of the best department in ITS, there are several problems related to the layout of the campus building. These problems are as followed; space circulation has not been well organized, learning facilities that are not placed in the right place and conditions of some facilities that are not optimally functional caused of some of them are old and outdated. From these problems, existing facilities need to be upgraded and additional facilities need to be provided to support the learning process and other activities.

So, the action taken is redesigning DTE with "Modern Smart-Eco Interior" concept. This concept features the useful functions and effectiveness that combines interior design with the technology and energy-saving systems for more efficient energy management. With this concept, that is expected that the problems in the building can be solved so that learning activities run more optimal while improving the image of DTE ITS.
