Abstract

Dipterocarpus littoralis (local name: pelahlar) currently is still endemic species in Nusakambangan island. This endemic species faces threats from invasive species and human activities on Nusakambangan Island. According to IUCN (2008) D. littoralis is located in critically endangered status, so his condition is threatened with extinction. Status of D. littorlis causes the need for priorities in conducting area management for the benefit of his conservation. Its conservation efforts need to be supported by an understanding of the ecological aspects and distribution of D. litoralis . So that, in this research observation was carried out to analyze population study of D. litoralis and built a spatial model type of D. littoralis in Nusakambangan, especially outside of region West Nusakambangan Reserve Natural. The population of the study used Transect Line Plots method with purposive sampling technique and spatial analysis D. littoralis using the Geographical Information System (GIS) with overlay technique. The observation was used on different plant habitus , namely seedlings, saplings, poles, and tree.
The result of the research shows that Dipterocarpus littoralis INP value at seed habitus level < sapling < pole < tree. D. littoralis found as many as 164 individuals that distributed in 3 zone: Zone A 99 individuals (15 trees, 28 poles, 48 saplings and 8 seedlings), Zone B 49 individuals (5 trees, 2 poles, 36 saplings and 6 seedlings), and Zone C 16 individuals (4 trees, 5 poles, 6 saplings and 1 seedling). Young individuals have high potential regeneration compared to adult individuals according to measurements of Diameter at Breast Height (DBH). This shows that D. litoralis has good potential for conservation, although based on habitus, it shows that regenerative power tends to be low so that the population structure becomes unstable. Areas suitable for developing conservation efforts for the D. littoralis on Nusakambangan Barat Island especially outside the Nature Reserve, namely Zone A.
