Abstract

Angkot as one of public transportation mode has various problems which threaten the sustainability of the angkot as a business.

Study on sustainability is a study that discusses about the sustainability of a
system in the long term. To create a sustainable policy for a s ystem, an
understanding of the causal relationship in the system is needed.
The research was conducted by modeling relationships in the public
transportation system using a dynamic system. Modeling is done by considering the
definition of a sustainable transportation system, the characteristics of angkot, and
the actual conditions of the city of Surabaya with the aim of creating a model that
can be used to create a sustainable policy especially related to public transportation.
Based on the simulation results and scenarios carried out in this study, it can
be concluded that the use of public transportation modes has an important role in
creating a sustainable transportation system. The ways that can be done to maximize
the use of public transportation facilities are with several strategies such as the
implementation of information technology, development of marketing strategies for
public transportation, and fleet rejuvenation. From the results of the development
of the scenario that was built, it can be concluded that the multi-modal
transportation system is more efficient and can support the sustainability of public
transportation on the public transportation system.
