Abstract

Global oil demand will increase in 2023 up to 100.4 million barrels according to the International Energy Agency (IEA) report. As oil demand increases, oil exploration and exploitation also increases. Therefore, facilities to support exploration and exploitation processes, such as oil tankers, are needed. Oil tanker during shipping encounter fluctuating loads caused by conditions of environment. Since these fluctuating loads are continuously applied and endangered the safety of ship, then the calculations of of fatigue are needed and one of the calculations is simplified fatigue. The analysis was carried out on the side longitudinal connection against transverse bulkhead, inner bottom longitudinal connection against transverse bulkhead, and bottom longitudinal connection against transverse bulkhead due to effect of dynamic wave pressure and cargo transverse sloshing pressure that obtained by using formula in Common Structural Rules for Double Hull Oil Tanker (CSR). The analysis uses variation of loading conditions, they are 0.5hfilling, 0.7hfilling, and 0.85hfilling applied to model of three cargo hold. The analysis is using finite element software to obtain results of each loading variations. Based on the results, the highest stress value for side longitudinal connection occurs in loading condition of 0.85hfilling which is equal to 56.3 MPa. For inner bottom longitudinal connection occurs in loading condition of 0.7hfilling which is equal to 53.4 MPa. For bottom longitudinal connection occurs in loading condition of 0.85hfilling which is equal to 59.1 MPa. Based on these stress results, fatigue life for side longitudinal connection is 26.6 years, inner bottom longitudinal connection is 42.5 years, and bottom longitudinal connection is 30.4 years.
