Abstract
Kebutuhan Peluru di negara Indonesia ini sangatlah banyak, paling tidak seorang prajurit TNI membutuhkan 1500 butir peluru pertahun dan ada kurang lebih 400.000 prajurit TNI. Untuk dapat menunjang kebutuhan tersebut, maka sangat diperlukan peralatan yang dapat membantu proses pembuatan peluru. Salah satu nya adalah material feeder untuk proses ironing pembuatan selongsong peluru kaliber 20 mm.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendesain dan membuat mekanisme material feeder, serta mendesain sistem kontrol yang sesuai. Penelitian ini diawali dengan mengidentifikasi permasalahan yang dilanjutkan dengan studi literatur. Hasil dari identifikasi permasalahan dan studi literatur tersebut kemudian dijadikan acuan dalam penentuan konsep desain. Penelitian akan dilakukan dengan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu tahap perancangan yang meliputi pembuatan mekanisme serta sistem kontrol, kemudian tahap kedua yaitu perancangan dan pembuatan mekanisme yang meliputi menggambar desain, simulasi kekuatan komponen dan manufaktur hasil dari desain, dan tahap terakhir yaitu perancangan dan pembuatan sistem kontrol.
Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah material feeder dapat memindahkan cup dari cup magazine menuju alat ironing dalam waktu 1,85 detik, lalu mengambil cartridge dan menjatuhkannya ke dalam wadah, serta meletakan cup keatas alat ironing dalam waktu 1,7 detik. Lalu kembali menuju cup magazine untuk mengambil cup dalam waktu 1,35 detik, sehingga waktu operasi dari material feeder adalah 4,9 detik.

The need for bullets in Indonesia is very large, at least one TNI soldier needs 1500 bullets per year and there are approximately 400,000 TNI soldiers. To be able to support these needs, it is very necessary to have equipment that can help the process of making those bullets. One of them is a material feeder to increase the production rate of ironing process for making 20 mm caliber bullet cartridge.The purpose of this study is to design and create a material feeder mechanism, and design an appropriate control system for it. This research begins by identifying problems and then followed by literature studies. The results of problem identification and literature study were used as a reference in determining the design concept. The research will be conducted through three stages, first the design stage which includes the creation of mechanisms and control systems, then the second stage is designing and making mechanisms that include drawing designs, calculating component strengths and manufacturing the results of the design, and the last stage is designing and manufacturing control systems .
The results obtained from this study are that the material feeder can move the cup from the cup magazine to the ironing device in 1.85 seconds, then take the cartridge and drop it into the container, and put the cup up on the ironing device within 1.7 seconds. Then return to the cup magazine to take another cup in 1.35 seconds. So that the total operating time of the material feeder is 4.9 seconds.
