Abstract

Ro-Ro ships are vessels whose main elements are passengers and vehicle transportation. Therefore a ship with much better stability is needed. Crowded passenger conditions on ro-ro vessels are the main aspect in the analysis to determine the stability of the ship to be maintained. The point noted is the heeling of the ship due to passenger crowding and immersion decks. It aims to protect and protect parts of the ship or on decks that are not safe (safe immersion deck) on the ship to stay awake and protect the system or existing components such as the use of fan / blower engine room ventilation caused by immersion on the deck due to passenger movements gathering only at one point is not affected if flooding occurs. In this analysis the vessel used was a Ro-Ro 300 GRT type of vessel carried out five simulations of passenger crowded effect on safe immersion deck with variations in vessel tank volume. In this study several crowded passenger simulations were carried out at several points using maxsurf software with variations of 110 passengers (normal conditions) and passenger overload conditions of 125% and 150%. The simulation resulted in immersion angle 22.3o at the immersion deck position of 3.48 meters from the baseline with the passenger biggest degree angle at an overload condition of 150%, 2,1o with a graph which showed inversely proportional to the variation in fluid volume. The recommendations produced are raising the freeboard, safety plan for passengers, rearranging or designing the ducting blower engine room, adding bulkheads stretching to the tank.
