Abstract
Biodiesel merupakan bahan bakar alternatif yang dapat menggantikan bahan bahan bakar fosil seperti solar. Sebagai bahan bakar alternatif, biodiesel memiliki beberapa keunggulan diantaranya adalah bahan bakar alternatif yang ramah lingkungan karena biodiesel dapat mengurangi emisi gas buang karbon monoksida dan bebas kandungan sulfur dibandingkan dengan bahan petroleum diesel lainnya. Akan tetapi menurut penelitian yang ada, kandungan NOx dalam biodiesel cenderung lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan solar. Salah satu upaya untuk mengurangi emisi NOx pada biodiesel adalah dengan mengemulsikan campuran etanol dan metanol. Pada penelitan ini dilakukan uji performa, dan emisi NOx pada biodiesel minyak kemiri (Aleurites moluccana) kadar 20% (B20) dengan emulsi campuran etanol dan metanol sebagai upaya dalam menurunkan emisi NOx menggunakan metode eksperimen sesuai dengan Test Cycles and Weighting Factors Type E2 dalam MARPOL Annex IV Regulation 13. Pada uji performa, Bahan bakar emulsi (EM15) kurang baik dibandingkan dengan bahan bakar lainnya, dapat dilihat dari konsumsi bahan bakar yang lebih tinggi, serta daya dan torsi yang rendah dari bahan bakar lainnya. Dari hasil uji Emisi NOx, Bahan bakar emulsi (EM15) mendapatkan kandungan emisi NOx terendah dibandingkan dengan bahan bakar lainnya.

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel that can replace fossil fuels such as diesel. As an alternative fuel, biodiesel has several advantages including one of the alternative environmentally friendly fuels because biodiesel can reduce exhaust emissions of carbon monoxide and sulfur-free compared to other petroleum diesel materials. However, according to existing research, the NOx content in biodiesel tends to be higher slammed with diesel fuel. One effort to reduce NOx emissions on biodiesel is by emulsifying a mixture of etanol and metanol. In this research a performance, and NOx emission test was carried out on candlenut oil biodiesel (Aleurites moluccana) 20% (B20) with an etanol and metanol mixture emulsion as an effort to reduce NOx emissions using the experimental method according to the Cycles and Weighting Factors Type Test E2 in MARPOL Annex IV Regulation 13. In performance tests, emulsion fuel (EM15) is worse compared to other fuels, can be seen from higher fuel consumption, as well as low power and torque from other fuels. From the NOx emission test result, emulsion fuel (EM15) has the lowest NOx emission content compared to other fuels.
