Abstract
Customer merupakan hal penting bagi perusahaan. Penelitian dilakukan pada
sebuah perusahaan plastik, dimana perusahaan dituntut mampu merespon customer
dengan baik dalam aspek proses penyimpanan bahan baku. Namun kondisi eksisting
gudang bahan baku belum optimal, dimana lokasi penyimpanan tercampur dan tidak
memiliki tata letak. Penelitian ini menggunakan data historis dan data time study,
kemudian data disimulasikan dengan simulasi Monte Carlo. Upaya perbaikan waktu put
away dan picking dilakukan dengan mengubah tata letak dan metode pemindahan.
Perubahan tata letak dibuat menggunakan analisis ABC berdasarkan selectivity dan
consumption rate. Skenario perbaikan I dirancang dengan mengabaikan area kelompok
PET yang memerlukan load capacity > 1,000 kg/slot, sedangkan skenario II dirancang
dengan menentukan area kelompok PET. Metode pemindahan yang semula menggunakan
tenaga pengangkut diubah menggunakan forklift. Pada proses put away, skenario II
menurunkan travel distance sebesar 6.96%, serta perubahan metode pemindahan
menurunkan travel time sebesar 79.34% dan waktu put away sebesar 68.84%. Pada
proses picking, skenario I menurunkan travel distance sebesar 1.81%, serta perubahan
metode pemindahan menurunkan travel time sebesar 86.92% dan waktu picking sebesar
65.86%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, perubahan metode pemindahan memberikan
penurunan waktu put away dan picking yang lebih baik daripada perubahan tata letak,
serta usulan perbaikan ini memberikan cost saving sebesar 27.85%.

Customer is important for company. This research was conducted on a plastic manufacturer, where the company is required to be able to respond well from the aspects of raw material storing process. However the existing condition of the raw material warehouse isn’t optimal, where the storage location has no layout. This study used historical and time study data, and was simulated using Monte Carlo. Improvement plan of the put away and picking time was done by changing the layout and handling method. The layout was made using ABC analysis based on selectivity and consumption rate. The improvement scenario I was designed by ignoring the PET area which requires a load capacity of >1,000 kg/slot, while scenario II was designed by determining the PET area. The handling method that was originally using porters was changed to using a forklift. In the put away process, scenario II decreased travel distance by 6.96%, and the handling method change decreased travel time by 79.34% and put away time by 68.84%. In the picking process, scenario I decreased travel distance by 1.81%, and handling method change decreased travel time by 86.92% and picking time by 65.86%. Thus, handling method change provide better result in the put away and picking time than the layout change, and this improvement provides cost savings of 27.85%.
