Abstract
Sumber energi adalah salah satu komoditas bagi suatu negara. Energi terbarukan menjadi salah satu solusi sebegai energi alternatif namun penggunaannya masih sedikit. Salah satu energi terbarukan adalah etanol yang terbuat dari broth fermentation. Bioetanol dari diambil broth fermentation dengan multicomponent batch distillation. Hasil simulasi dibandingkan dengan hasil eksperimen untuk validasi simulasi ini. Metode runge kutta digunakan untuk menyelesaikan numerical problem di simulasi ini. Variabel dari percobaan ini adalah tinggi packing. Sehingga waktu maksimum dari batch distillation dapat diperoleh sehingga bisa didapatkan konsentrasi etanol yang maksimal di destilat. Konsentrasi etanol maksimal yang didapatkan sebesar 68% mol untuk tanpa packing, 70% mol untuk packing 3 cm dan 70% mol untuk packing 5 cm.

Energy resource is one of commodities for a country. Renewable energy is one of solution as alternative energy but few people using renewable energy. One of renewable energy is ethanol which made from broth fermentation. Bioethanol from broth fermentation is recovered by multicomponent batch distillation. This research simulate the operation of multicomponent batch distillation. The simulation result compare with experimental data to validation this simulation. Runge-Kutta method use for solving numerical problem in this simulation. Height of mess packing is variable from this research. The optimum time of batch distillation can be obtain to get the maximum mole concentration of ethanol in distillate. The maximum concentration of ethanol get 68% mole for without packing, 70% mole for 3 cm packing and 70 % for 5 cm packing.
