Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengekstrak minyak dan
nutrisi (β-karoten dan α-tokoferol) dari ampas kelapa sawit
dengan karbondioksida superkritis, menghitung yield minyak
yang terekstrak serta kelarutan minyak dalam CO2 superkritis, dan
mengamati pengaruh kondisi operasi ekstraksi ampas kelapa
sawit menggunakan CO2 superkritis terhadap yield ekstrak,
kandungan β-karoten dan α-tokoferol. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan
kondisi operasi yang bervariasi yaitu tekanan 20 ; 30 ; 40 MPa,
temperatur 40 ; 60 ; 80 oC, dan flow rate CO2 3 ; 3,5 ; 4 ml/menit
dengan waktu ekstraksi selama enam jam. Untuk mengetahui
kandungan β-karoten dan α-tokoferol, ekstrak yang didapat
dianalisa menggunakan Spektrofotometer UV – Vis dan High
Performance Liquid Chromatograph. Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan bahwa yield minyak, β-karoten, dan α-tokoferol
cenderung meningkat seiring dengan kenaikan tekanan dan
temperatur operasi. Sedangkan kenaikan flow rate CO2 tidak
memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap yield minyak, β-
karoten dan α-tokoferol. Yield minyak yang dapat terekstrak
sekitar 0,026 – 0,064 gr/gr sampel. Untuk solubilitas minyak
dalam CO2 superkritis sekitar 0,001 – 0,023 g/L CO2 yang
dikorelasikan dengan persamaan Chrastil dan diperoleh konstanta
Chrastil k, a, dan b yaitu sebesar 10,62; -6101,28; -57,52.

The aim of this research was to extract of oil and nutrients
(β-carotene dan α-tocopherol) from palm-pressed fiber with
supercritical carbon dioxide, to calculate yield of the extract and
oil solubility in supercritical CO2, and to observe the effect of
operating conditions to the extraction of palm-pressed fiber with
supercritical CO2 towards yield of extract, the content of β-
carotene dan α-tocopherol. The extraction were carried out by
various operating conditions. The pressure are ; 30 ; 40 Mpa, the
temperature are 40 ; 60 ; 80 oC, and flow rate of CO2 are 3 ; 3,5 ;
4 ml/minute. The extraction was taken for six hours.
Spectrofotometer UV – Vis and High Performance Liquid
Chromatograph was used to determine the content of β-carotene
dan α-tocopherol. The result showed that the yield of oil, β-
carotene, and α-tocopherol tends to increase in accordance with
increasing operating pressure and temperature. While the
increase in the flow rate of CO2 does not have a significant effect
on the yield of oil, β-carotene, and α-tocopherol. The yield of oil
which can be extracted approximately 0,026 to 0,064 gr/gr
sample. For the solubility of oil in supercritical CO2
approximately 0,001 to 0,023 g/L CO2 and obtained chrastil
constant k, a, and b is 10,62; -6101,28; -57,52.
