Abstract

Pengembangan dan inovasi bahan baku sorgum sebagai
penunjang kebutuhan etanol food grade adalah salah satu hal
yang diprioritaskan apalagi jika mempunyai nilai keekonomian
yang tinggi. Khususnya dapat membangkitkan keekonomian di
masyarakat pedesaan. Sorgum adalah tanaman serealia yang
potensial untuk dibudidayakan dan dikembangkan. Prospek
sorgum di Indonesia dapat dijadikan komoditas andalan
mengingat sorgum bisa dikembangkan searah dan sejalan
dengan upaya peningkatan produktivitas lahan kosong yang
jumlahnya sangat luas terdapat di negeri ini.
Proses fermentasi dilakukan secara batch dalam
bioreactor. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh
mikroorganisme Zymomonas mobilis termutasi (A3),
Saccharomyces cerevisiae dan campuran Pichia stipitis dalam
proses fermentasi.
sebesar 6,21%. Sedangkan untuk proses fermentasi dengan kadar
gula awal 150 g/L, Zymomonas mobilis termutasi memiliki yield
terbesar yaitu 40,92% dengan kadar etanol sebesar 7,78%.

Development and innovation of raw materials sorghum
as supporting the needs of food-grade ethanol is one thing that is
prioritized especially if it has a high economic value. In
particular can generate economies of rural communities.
Sorghum is a potential cereal crops to be cultivated and
developed, especially on marginal lands and dry in Indonesia.
Prospects sorghum in Indonesia can be used as a commodity
given sorghum could be developed in the direction of and in line
with efforts to increase the productivity of vacant land very
extensive amount contained in this country.
Fermentation process using batch system in the
bioreactor. In this research, the effect on the microorganisms in
the fermentation process is Zymomonas mobilis mutant (A3),
Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Pichia stipitis mixture.
Fermentation temperature is kept at 29-30°C and sample is taken
every 6 hours for 90 hours with 100 g/L and 150 g/L initial sugar
concentration.
From this research we obtain that mixture of
Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Pichia stipitis have higher yield
for fermentation process with 100 g/L of initial sugar
concentration, 48,99% and the ethanol concentration is 6,21%.
For fermentation process with 150 g/L of initial sugar
concentration, Zymomonas mobilis mutant have higher yield,
40,92% with 7,78% of ethanol concentration.
