Abstract
Penelitian mengenai peningkatan kadar emas melalui
pelarutan logam pengotor menggunakan asam klorida (HCl),
asam sulfat (H2SO4) dan asam nitrat (HNO3) dan kombinasi
asam dan kalium iodida pada batuan yang berasal dari
Gunung Botak Pulau Buru (Maluku) telah dilakukan. Data
XRD menyebutkan batuan merupakan mineral cinnabar.
Kadar emas dalam sampel dianalisis menggunakan
spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Pada penelitian ini, sampel yang
dilarutkan dengan HCl mampu meningkatkan persen Au
dalam sampel sebesar 52%. Pelarutan bertingkat dengan
asam pada sampel tidak memberikan pengaruh peningkatan
kadar Au dalam sampel yang signifikan. Kombinasi asam
klorida (HCl) 5M dan kalium iodida 1,5M pada pelarutan
sampel mampu meningkatkan persentase kadar Au hingga
186% dibandingkan sampel awal sebelum pelarutan.

A research on beneficiation of Buru Island (Maluku)
gold ore by hydrochloric acid (HCl), sulfuric acid (H2SO4),
nitric acid (HNO3) and combination of acid-potassium
iodide has been done. XRD characterization shows that the
ore was cinnabar. Gold content in the residue was analyzed
by UV-Vis spectrophotometer. HCl dissolution could
increase gold content in the residue about 52%. Succesive
acid dissolution did not give any significant effect to the
gold content. The combination of hydrochloric acid (HCl)
and potassium iodide leaching for 30 minutes and stirred at
300 rpm could improve gold content significantly. The best
conditions of gold dissolution was the combination of HCl
5M + KI 1,5M which increase the gold content up to 186%
compared to the untreatment sample.
