Abstract

PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical is one of the companies engaged in the Indonesian petrochemical field, located at the village of Ciwandan, Cilegon, Banten. One of the plants owned by PT Chandra Asri is the Butadiene plant which produces chemical products which are one of the raw materials in making tires. PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical
electrical system is divided into three voltage levels, 20 kV, 6kV and 0.38 kV. To maintain continuity and control, protection coordination is carried out by re-setting the Over current relay and Ground fault Relay and those at PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical plant Butadiene. Before re-setting, the electrical system is divided into two typical types, namely typical 1 and typical 2. In typical 1 and 2 relays that work have not been well coordinated because there are intersecting relays. Intersecting relays will cause the relay that should be backup to experience tripping first. Other things to consider in setting up are considering the emergence of a arc flash. Based on IEEE 1584-2004 which discusses the dangers of arc flash as a guideline for determining safe distance, incident energy, and providing PPE according to incident energy when a short circuit occurs. By re-setting the PN-201 bus based on the simulation coordination protection results that have been carried out there has been an increase in incident energy when the existing condition is worth 4,125 cal / cm2 and when the re-setting is done it is worth 5,768 cal /cm2.
