Abstract

Korosi adalah suatu kerusakan material yang disebabkan oleh reaksi kimia antara sebuah logam atau logam paduan yang berada di dalam suatu lingkungan. Salah satu upaya untuk mengendalikan laju korosi yang sedang marak digunakan adalah dengan menambahkan inhibitor. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mempelajari pengaruh ekstrak tumbuhan sarang semut (Myrmecodia pendans) sebagai bioinhibitor dalam media korosif asam. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan baja karbon yang digunakan sebagai material pipelines jenis API 5L Grade B pada temperature 30⁰C, 40⁰C, 50⁰C dalam media korosif HCl 1M dengan variasi konsentrasi dari ekstrak tumbuhan sarang semut 0 mg/L, 100 mg/L dan 500 mg/L. Metode ekstraksi dari tumbuhan sarang semut menggunakan metode maserasi serbuk sarang semut dengan 80 % ethanol yang kemudian diuapkan dengan rotary evaporator. Efektivitas penggunaan bioinhibitor sarang semut dalam asam diketahui melalui beberapa pengujian yaitu Uji Imersi (Weight Loss), Uji Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy dan Uji FTIR. Hasil pengujian menunjukan bahwa laju korosi tertinggi pada baja API 5L grade B ketika konsentrasi 500mg/l di temperatur 30⁰C sebesar 3563.59mpy. Sedangkan laju korosi terendah pada baja API 5L grade B ketika konsentrasi 0mg/l di temperatur 50⁰C sebesar 1667.93mpy. Penambahan inhibitor sarang semut mampu menurunkan laju korosi dengan membentuk lapisan tipis di permukaan logam. ===================================================================================================== Corrosion is one of material damage caused by a chemical reaction between a metal or metal alloy in a certain environment. One of the solution to control the corrosion rate that massively being used is by adding inhibitors. The purpose of this research was to study the effect of Myrmecodia pendans plant’s extract as a bio-inhibitor in acidic corrosive media. In this research API 5L Grade B carbon steel (pipeline materials) was used on the temperatures of 30 ⁰ C, 40 ⁰ C, 50 ⁰ C in medium corrosive HCl 1M with various concentration of Myrmecodia pendans 0 mg / L, 100 mg / L and 500 mg / L . The method of extraction used maceration of Myrmecodia pendans powder with 80% ethanol and then evaporated with a rotary evaporator. The Effectiveness of this bio-inhibitor in acid environment was tested with Immersion Testing (Weight Loss), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy Testing and FTIR. The test results showed that the highest corrosion rate of steel API 5L grade B was performed at 3563.59 mpy with 500mg / l concentration on the temperature of 30⁰C. While the lowest corrosion rate on steel API 5L grade B was 1667.93 mpy with in the 0mg / l concentration at a temperature of 50⁰C. The addition Myrmecodia pendans inhibitors was proved to be able to reduce the corrosion rate by forming a thin layer on the metal surface.
