Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) has become a major problem for social development and progress. In Indonesia, cases of HIV have increased every year. In 2017 the country of Indonesia became the third country with the most HIV cases in the Asia-Pacific. The cause of the increase in HIV cases is influenced by several factors, to find out the factors that influence it, a study was conducted using Truncated Nonparametric Spline Regression. Because the pattern of relations shown between the percentage of HIV cases and the factors suspected of influencing them does not follow a certain pattern. Based on the minimum GCV value, the best model is to use a knot point combination (3,3,2,2,1). The results of testing the significance of the parameters indicate that all variables used in the study had a significant effect on the percentage of HIV cases in Indonesia. The variables used were the ratio of KT service, percentage of condom use, percentage of poverty, the ratio of PDP service, and percentage of male population. And the results of the residual assumption test show that all assumptions are met with the coefficient of determination of this model equal to 89,49%.
