Abstract
Penentuan kadar besi dilakukan dengan metode Spektrofotometer UV-Vis dengan mereduksi Fe(III) menjadi Fe(II) menggunakan pereduksi Na2S2O3 dan NaBH4. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan aktivitas pereduksi Na2S2O3 dan NaBH4. Variabel yang divariasi adalah pH buffer asetat optimum, waktu pembentukan kompleks optimum, dan konsentrasi pereduksi optimum dalam penentuan kadar besi (Fe). Pada penelitian ini NaBH4 diajukan sebagai alternatif pereduksi. Panjang gelombang maksimum Fe(II)-Fenantrolin dengan pereduksi Na2S2O3 dan NaBH4 diperoleh sebesar 510 nm. Selanjutnya optimasi pH buffer suasana asam diperoleh pH 4,5 untuk Na2S2O3 dan NaBH4. Waktu optimum pembentukan kompleks yaitu 15 menit untuk Na2S2O3 serta 5 menit untuk NaBH4. Selain itu, dilakukan penentuan konsentrasi optimum pereduksi dan dihasilkan 11 ppm pereduksi Na2S2O3 dan 150 ppm pereduksi NaBH4 untuk mereduksi 5 ppm larutan Fe(III). Tingkat akurasi suatu metode dapat dilihat dari %recovery. %recovery dari pereduksi Na2S2O3 dan NaBH4 berturut-turut sebesar 115,54% dan 108,30% pada saat kondisi pH buffer asetat optimum, waktu pembentukan kompleks optimum, dan konsentrasi pereduksi optimum.

Determination of total iron was carried out using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer by reducing Fe(III) to Fe(II) using reducing agent Na2S2O3 and NaBH4. In this research, the activities of Na2S2O3 and NaBH4 reductor were compared. Variable variation were optimum pH, time of complex formation and optimum concentration of redactor in iron (Fe) analysis. In this research NaBH4 was proposed as an alternative reducing agent. The maximum wavelength of Fe(II)-Phenanthroline with Na2S2O3 and NaBH4 reductor were obtained at 510 nm. Optimization of buffer pH in acidic conditions was pH 4,5 for Na2S2O3 and NaBH4. The optimum reaction time of complex formation was 15 minutes for Na2S2O3 and 5 minutes for NaBH4. Determination of optimum concentration was 11 ppm for Na2S2O3 and 150 ppm for NaBH4 to reduce 5 ppm of Fe(III). The accuracy level of the method can be seen from %recovery. %recovery from Na2S2O3 and NaBH4 were 115,54% and 108,30% at optimum pH, time of complex formation and optimum concentration for reductor.
