Abstract

Perancangan dan pembuatan induction furnace high temperature yang berfungsi untuk heat treatment material logam telah berhasil dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat sebuah induction furnace high temperature, serta menganalisis prinsip kerja dari alat tersebut. Prinsip yang digunakan oleh induction furnace high temperature ini yaitu arus eddy atau arus pusar di dalam spesimen akibat pengaruh medan induksi. Proses perancangan induction furnace meliputi desain bentuk, elemen pemanas, dan tegangan input rangkaian. Desain furnace dibuat dengan ukuran 13 cm x 25 cm x 17 cm. Elemen pemanas yang digunakan menggunakan koil tembaga yang dibentuk menjadi solenoida dengan ukuran diameter 5 cm; 6,5 cm; dan 8 cm. Tegangan input yang digunakan yaitu 17 volt, 24 volt, dan 28 volt dengan arus input yang sama sebesar 20A. Dalam pengukuran, ada 4 variabel yang diukur yaitu tegangan output, arus output, frekuensi, dan suhu. Apabila tegangan input dinaikkan, empat variabel tersebut akan mengalami kenaikan juga. Sedangkan apabila diameter koil diperbesar, arus dan tegangan akan mengalami kenaikan sedangkan suhu dan frekuensi mengalami penurunan. Dari hasil yang telah didapatkan, daya sistem yang dibutuhkan furnace naik seiring dengan penambahan tegangan input. Suhu maksimal yang mampu dihasilkan selama 2 menit pada tegangan 17 volt, 24 volt, dan 28 volt secara berturut-turut yaitu 321°C; 555°C; dan 625°C.

Design and manufacture of high temperature induction furnace which function as heat treatment of metal material has been done. This study aims to make a high temperature induction furnace and analyze work principle of it. Principle that used in this study is eddy current in metal due to the influence of the induction field. The design process of the induction furnace includes the design of the shapes, heating element, dan input voltage. Furnace is made with dimensions of 13 cm x 25 cm x 17 cm. Heating element use copper coil that shapped to solenoid with diameter size 5 cm, 6,5 cm, and 8 cm. Input voltage that used are 17 volt, 24 volt, and 28 volt with same input current 20A. In measurement, there are 4 variable’s measured is output voltage, output current, frequency, and temperature. If the input voltage has increased, that variables will increasing too. While the coil diameter has increased, current and voltage will increasing too, but frequency and temperature will decreasing. Furnace requires power system has increased when input voltage increasing too. Maximum temperature that can be produced during 2 minutes by voltage 17 volt, 24 volt, and 28 volt respectively are 321°C; 555°C; dan 625°C.
