Abstract
The excitation of a low-rise pump station concrete building had occurred within the first-year post-construction phase. It is found that the structures laying on thick soil layer while performing massive long-term water supply activity. Three approaches have been adopted to investigate the dynamic behavior and the interaction this phenomenon commonly called fluid-soil-structure interaction, i.e. how the dynamic properties of fluid and soil coupled with the dynamic properties of the structure. Applying the finite element features from Solidworks 2017 software, the dynamic behavior of the soil, fluid and structure are modeled and compared to a fully fixed supported building as an ideal case. It was found that the structure’s vibration, much depend on the rigidity of the support and the fluctuated fluids of the pump station. Time - Displacement graph at the arbitrary point shows that the excitation occurs rapidly at 14,5 Hertz which resonate to building’s natural frequency. And to avoid the further phenomena, re-arrange the rotating equipment configuration shall trimmed the unbalanced condition and leads to minimizing the building’s excitation.
