Abstract
Distribution system restoration (DSR) is one of the most challenging problems of modern distribution system network under the umbrella of smart grids. After the fault is identified and isolated, DSR is aimed to resupply out-of-service loads by altering the topological structure of the distribution system when assembling electrical and operational constraints. This research present spanning tree search to ascertain the optimal DSR plan that maximizes the restored load minimizes the number of switching operation and minimizes the real power losses. The depth-first search algorithm is an unweighting graph which is proposed to represent and restore the power in the distribution system as a spanning tree that can maintain the radial structure of the system. Multi-fault conditions are considered in this study to make an effective restoration strategy. To verify its effectiveness, the proposed algorithm is applied to a modified IEEE 33-bus and an IEEE 69-bus distribution system and compare with other proposed algorithm. Spanning tree search base on depth-first search is performed to find the best topology to restore the downstream load as much as possible. Moreover, the result of implement tie-switch during restoration process display on GUI that can make the user easy to use. In this study is deal with modified IEEE 69 bus system and multi-feeders of (PLN 20kV) Medium voltage distribution system in Surabaya. The results shown that an optimal restoration plan is achieved by maximizing the load restored, minimizing number of switching pair operation and minimizing the real power losses while satisfying electrical and operational constraints and less computational time to calculate the restoration action.
