Abstract

Tanjung Perak Port is one of the goods and commodities transportation gateways in Eastern Indonesia which locate in Surabaya has several terminals with different functions. One terminal that serves as a multipurpose terminal at Tanjung Perak Port is Lamong Bay Terminal. With the increasing amount of sea transportation activities at Lamong Bay Terminal, maintenance is carried out periodically to keep the ideal depth that matches the dimensions and size of the ships anchored in the waters of Lamong Bay. In order for the port maintenance process to run effectively, knowledge is needed regarding the analysis of the distribution and thickness of sediments in related location. In this study, the sediment thickness model was made from sub bottom profiler data and for the sediment distribution using side scan sonar data. The borelog sample is used for validation tests after the interpretation. Based on the results of the processing and analysis, it was found that Lamong Bay has a depth value ranging from 8 meters to 20 meters towards LWS with an average sediment thickness of 2.0795 meters, maximum thickness of 2.6978 meters and a minimum thickness of 0.9391 meters. The accumulation of sediment layers on the surface of the sea floor around the Lamong Bay dock pool area tends to follow the topographic structure or relief from the seabed. While the results of the sediment distribution analysis in Lamong Bay using side scan sonar data obtained the total calculation area of 116531.3297 m2 which has the sediment area with a rough texture of 12821.6647 m2 , area with medium texture of 79711.8928 m2 , and area with fine texture of 23997.7722 m2 where the research area is dominated by sand.
