Abstract
Pertumbuhan penduduk yang tinggi menyebabkan manusia memanfaatkan sumberdaya alam tanpa memerhatikan daya dukung lingkungan, menyebabkan terjadi penurunan kualitas lingkungan dan bencana alam. Sementara UU No 26 Tahun 2007 menyatakan bahwa dalam penyusunan rencana tata ruang pemukiman harus memerhatikan dan menghindari kawasan rawan bencana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan evaluasi kesesuaian lahan pemukiman di Surabaya Selatan menggunakan sistem informasi geografis sebagai alat akumulasi dan analisis data. Hasil akhir penelitian berupa peta analisis kesesuaian lahan pemukiman di Surabaya Selatan dengan skala 1:50.000. Proses analisis dilakukan menggunakan beberapa parameter (struktur tanah, posisi jalur patahan, kemiringan lereng, kerawanan bencana banjir, puting beliung, kebakaran, jarak pemukiman terhadap sungai, dan akses jalan), dengan pendekatan analytical hierarchy process. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 902,327 ha lahan di Surabaya Selatan sangat sesuai digunakan sebagai daerah pemukiman, 5035,841 ha sesuai, dan 304,475 ha sesuai marginal (perlu dilakukan usaha-usaha tertentu untuk mencapai kondisi sesuai).

High population growth causes people to use natural resources without regard to the carrying capacity of the environment, lead to degradation in the quality of environment and further, natural disaster. While in regulations, Undang-Undang Nomor 26 Tahun 2007 stated that within spatial planning for human settlement should put concern and avoid disaster-prone area. This research intend to do an evaluation for human settlement suitability in the south area of Surabaya, using Geographic Information System as a tool to accumulate and conduct spatial analysis. The product is a land suitability map for human settlement in the south region of Surabaya in the scale of 1:50.000. Spatial Analysis Process is performed using 8 parameters (slope, geological structure, fault position, areas prone to flood, whirlwind, and fire, stream position, and road position), with calculation for weighted score approached using analytical hierarchy process. The result shows that 902,327 ha area measured in south Surabaya is highly suitable for human settlement, 5035,841 ha is suitable, and 304,475 ha is marginally suitable (specific treatment is needed to attain desired conditions).
