Abstract

Adsorption of three types of dyes (remazol yellow, indigosol yellow, and naphtol yellow) with activated carbon adsorbent has been carried out. Batik dye when disposed directly to the airways can cause environmental problem. The adsorption method is one of the effective methods that can decrease the concentrations of batik dyes remazol yellow, indigosol yellow, and naphthol yellow. Three types of dyes were mixed as artificial solution to be able to determine the adsorption conditions of mixture dyes that can be applied in processing batik dye waste. Some parameters learned in the adsorption of mixture dyes were variations in contact time, variations in mass of the adsorbent, as well as initial variations in concentration. The adsorption results must be adapted using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at the maximum wavelength of each dye. The adsorption optimum were obtained at contact time 50 minutes with %Removal of each dyes 74.73%; 90.57%; and 93.50%; adsorbent mass 16 mg with %Removal of each dyes 74.61%; 89.22%; 92.32%; and initial concentration of each dye 25 mg/L with %Removal of each dye 69.48%; 69.15%; and 75.08%. Maximum adsorption capacity of each dye were 40.38; 54.18; dan 83.12 mg/g.
