Abstract
Injectable material merupakan salah satu metode penyembuhan yang mempermudah prosedur operasi. Metode ini bisa menjadi salah satu solusi dalam menangani kerusakan nucleus pulposus pada IVD. Suatu penelitian telah dilakukan untuk mengganti nucleus pulposus melalui metode replacement material dengan menggunakan komposit silicone rubber/chitosan. Silicone rubber diketahui memiliki curing temperature pada temperature ruang. Hal ini bisa dijadikan acuan sehingga bisa digunakan untuk injectable material. Sejauh ini belum ada penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai silicone rubber rtv 585 untuk material pengganti bantalan tulang belakang. Oleh karena itu, pada penelitian ini dianalisa pengaruh penambahan chitosan pada komposit silicone rubber rtv 585/chitosan terhadap sifat fisik dan mekanik sebagai kandidat injectable material untuk pengganti IVD. Penambahan chitosan yang digunakan sebesar sebesar 10,20,30,40,50% volum dari total komposit silicone rubber rtv 585/chitosan. Sampel kemudian dilakukan pengujian curing time, water content,XRD, FTIR, compressive strength dan tensile strength serta injectable performance. Dari pengujian tersebut didapatkan penambahan chitosan akan memperlambat curing time, meningkatkan water content dan kemampuan mengisi rongga-rongga cetakan saat diinjeksikan. Selain itu dengan penambahan chitosan menurunkan kekuatan tekan serta menurunkan kekuatan tarik. Penambahan 10%chitosan mencatatkan nilai tertinggi pada kekuatan tarik dan tekan masing masing sebesar 1.53 ± 0.04 Mpa dan 1.87 ± 0.88 Mpa. Selain itu penambahan 10%chitosan memiliki nilai curing time paling cepat selama 63.30 ± 1.50 menit. Sedangkan untuk water content, kandungan air terbanyak pada penambahan 50%chitosan dengan 16.71±1.41%. Komposit ini diharapkan dapat menjadi kandidat injectable material yang memiliki sifat fisik dan mekanik yang baik.

Injectable material is one of the healing methods simplify the surgical procedure. This method can be one solution in dealing with damage to the nucleus pulposus in IVD. This study has been conducted to suitable and characterize a silicone rubber/chitosan composite for nucleus pulposus. Silicone rubber rtv is known to have curing temperature at room temperature. As few as author knowledge there has been no further research on rubber rtv 585 silicone for intervertebral disc replacement material. Therefore, this study analyzed the effect of adding chitosan on silicone rubber rtv 585 / chitosan composites to physical and mechanical properties as injectable material candidates for IVD replacement. The addition of chitosan used amount to 10,20,30,40 and 50% volume of the total rubber silicone composite rtv 585 / chitosan. The samples were then tested for curing time, water content, XRD, FTIR, compressive strength and tensile strength and injectable performance. The addition of chitosan will slow down curing time, increase water content and the ability to fill mold cavities when injected. In addition, the addition of chitosan decreases compressive strength and tensile strength. Addition of 10% chitosan result in the highest value in the tensile and compressive strength, 1.53 ± 0.04 Mpa and 1.87± 0.88 Mpa respectively. Furthermore, 10% chitosan has the fastest curing time for 63.3 ± 1.5 minutes. As for water content, the highest water content is in the addition of 50% chitosan with 16.71 ± 1.41%. From this study, composition with 50% chitosan is expected to be a candidate for injectable material that has good physical and mechanical properties.
