Abstract

Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK termasuk dalam jenis zat warna batik yang berbahaya jika dibuang secara langsung ke lingkungan karena memiliki sifat nonbiodegradable dan toksisitas yang tinggi bagi kehidupan manusia. Penelitian yang telah dilakukan berhasil menurunkan konsentrasi zat warna batik Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK dalam limbah dengan menggunakan metode adsorpsi dan adsorben karbon aktif. Beberapa parameter yang digunakan dalam penelitian ialah variasi waktu kontak, massa adsorben, dan konsentrasi awal limbah. Absorbansi Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK dalam limbah saat sebelum dan sesudah adsorpsi diukur menggunakan spektrofotometer UV Visible pada panjang gelombang maksimum larutan 465 nm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi optimum adsorpsi diperoleh pada waktu kontak 50 menit, massa adsorben sebesar 10 mg, dan konsentrasi awal limbah sebesar 53,99 mg/L. Metode adsorpsi yang digunakan pada penurunan konsentrasi zat warna batik Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK pada limbah menghasilkan persen removal maksimum sebesar 69,79% ± 0,33 dan kapasitas adsorpsi maksimum sebesar 94,05 mg/g.

Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK is the type of batik dyes which are hazardeous if they are discharged directly into the environment. The characteristic of Indigosol Golden Yellow are non-biodegradable and high toxicity for human life. In this study, Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK dyestuff removal using adsorption method with activated carbon as adsorbent has been carried out. The variation of contact time, adsorbent dosage, and initial waste concentration were studied. Absorbances of Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK, before and after adsorption, were measured using a UV Visible spectrophotometer at the maximum wavelength is 465 nm. The results of this study indicate that the optimum conditions for adsorption were obtained in 50 minutes of contact time, adsorbent mass of 10 mg, and initial waste concentration of 53.99 mg/L. The adsorption method used in concentration decreased of Indigosol Golden Yellow IRK dye produced a maximum removal of 69.79% ± 0.33 and maximum adsorption capacity of 94.05 mg/g.
