Abstract

The phenomenon of global warming can rise the existence of thermal expansion and variation of water mass that causes melting glaciers, polar ice sheet and changes in average global sea level. This effect has an important impact on socio-economic, infrastructure and environment which causes loss of land around coastal areas where more than 10% of the world population lives. Since the end of the 18th century, changes in the position of seawater have been observed from tidal station along the coastline. However, the observation of tidal stations has limitations in number, distribution and coverage, as well as the influence of land subsidence.
Therefore, this study analyzed variations in sea level in the Java Sea and the South China Sea during the period 2002-2019 using altimetry satellite reference mission data, namely Jason 1, Jason 2, and Jason 3. Sea level variations that need to be explored increase sea air by 4,1 mm / year.
This positive linear trend of the light-line gradient is obtained from the results of the linear regression equation, y = 4,134x – 8260,8017, where high velocities occur around the north or south Jawa Sea which has a value of 7-9 mm / year. So based on the results pre-event planning can be carried out on the impact of the upcoming sea level rise.
