Abstract
Fungsi utama lapisan cat (coating) adalah melindungi permukaan benda kerja dari serangan korosi. Umumnya, performa lapisan sering menurun dikarenakan adanya beban mekanik seperti abrasi akibat ombak, angin maupun pasir. Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan ketahanan abrasi lapisan cat dengan cara menambahkan filler pada matriks resin cat epoksi. Serbuk alumina (Al2O3) dan Silika (SiO2) ditambahkan dengan presentase berat 0% alumina (Al2O3) dan 0% Silika (SiO2) , 0% alumina (Al2O3) dan 9% Silika (SiO2), 3% alumina (Al2O3) dan 6% Silika (SiO2) , 6% alumina (Al2O3) dan 3% Silika (SiO2) dan 9% alumina (Al2O3) dan 0% Silika (SiO2). Logam yang digunakan sebagai substrat adalah baja karbon. Serbuk alumina (Al2O3) dan Silika (SiO2) dicampur dengan cat epoksi kemudian di lapiskan pada baja karbon. Material hasil pelapisan dilakukan pengujian adhesi dengan Pull-off Test dan abrasi dengan menggunakan Abrasive Test. Pengujian morfologi menggunakan Mikroskop Optik. Daya Adhesi tertinggi dimiliki specimen 3% alumina (Al2O3) dan 6% Silika (SiO2) dengan nilai 9.32 Mpa. Spesimen dengan 9% alumina (Al2O3) dan 0% Silika (SiO2) memiliki angka Ketahanan Abrasi tertinggi sebesar 5µm.

Main Function of Coating layers is to protect material surfaces from corrosion attack. Generally, coating performances often decrease because of external mechanic load like waves, wind or sand. Base on the cause, this research had been carried out to improve abrasion resistance of coating by adding filler into epoxy coating matrix. Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3) or known as Alumina and Silica (SiO2) powder were added into coating with weight percentation of 0% Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3) and 0% Silica (SiO2), 0% Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3) and 9% Silica (SiO2), 3% Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3) and 6% Silica (SiO2), 6% Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3) and 3% Silica (SiO2) and 9% Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3) and 0% Silica (SiO2).Carbon steel was used as a substrate material. Several tests were carried out and the results show some improvements on epoxy coating properties. Pull-Off test shows that addition of Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3) and Silica (SiO2) powder reduces coating adhesion strength. Addition of Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3) and Silica (SiO2) rises abrasion resistant of epoxy coating, it was tested by falling sand abrasive test. The Optical Microscope was used to investigate morphology of coating surface and texture changes at the interface of coating. Highest Adhesion Strength is showed by specimen with 3% Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3) and 6% Silica (SiO2) is 9.32 Mpa. Highest Abrasion Resistant is showed by specimen with 9% Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3) and 0% Silica (SiO2) is 5µm.
