Abstract

Ponorogo is one of the areas in East Java that has the largest critical land. According to the Ministry of Forestry, East Java, the critical land in Ponorogo Regency outside the forest area in 2012 was around 12,873 hectares and in 2015 outside the forest area around 2,378.7 hectares. Ponorogo has land that is not by its capabilities so that there is a lot of damaged land. Critical land is land that is not suitable between the ability of the land and its use due to physical, chemical and biological damage that endangers the hydrological, socio-economic, agricultural production and settlement functions. The use of land that is not by its capabilities will cause the land to turn into critical land. This research was conducted using remote sensing technology and geographic information systems. The method used in this study is the USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation) method to create erosion maps and use the scoring and overlay methods. The results of processing the data on the condition of very critical land outside the forest area of Ponorogo Regency obtained a percentage of 5% with an area of 2794.22 Ha The widest area with very critical land conditions is in Sampung District covering an area of 1173.76 Ha, land conditions are very critical District forest area Ponorogo obtained a percentage of 16% with an area of 14344.84 Ha. The widest area in the condition in Slahung District is 2656.83 Ha.
