Abstract
=================================================================================================================================
Noise is an unwanted sound that could cause human health and environmental comfort problems. Noise in urban communities generally comes from the noise of motorized vehicles that can disturb drivers. Therefore, it is necessary to have acoustic material that can reduce the intensity of engine noise. Polyester reinforced ramie fiber and nanocellulose composites are an alternative acoustic material that can be used on the dashboard. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of alkalization process on hemp fiber and the addition of nanaocellulose to the value of Sound Transmission Loss (STL), physical properties and impact strength of composites. In this study, the variations of nanocellulose addition on the composition was 0%, 1%, and 3%. Characterization applied in this research is SEM test, FTIR test, Sound Transmission Class test, Impact test, Water Absorption test and Density test. From the test results, the highest STL value at frequencies below 350 Hz / in the range of diesel engine noise frequency was found in the 0% Nanocellulose / Non-Alkaline Hemp Fiber composite with STL value of 68.52 dB. The highest impact value was obtained from 1% Nanocellulose / Alkaline Ramie Fiber composite with a value of 4.005 KJ / m2.
