Abstract

Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara maritim terbesar di dunia. Namun, kekayaan alam Indonesia yang melimpah tersebut belum dapat oleh Indonesia karena memerlukan pengembangan industri yang dapat memanfaatkan kekayaan alam Indonesia untuk mengurangi impor bahan-bahan kebutuhan penduduk Indonesia. Salah satu industri yang perlu dikembangkan di Indonesia adalah industri produksi garam industri. Air laut memiliki kadar garam karena bumi dipenuhi dengan garam mineral yang terdapat di dalam batu-batuan dan tanah. Contohnya natrium, kalium, kalsium, dan lain-lain. Dengan memperhatikan komposisi yang ada pada air laut, maka air laut dapat diolah menjadi produksi garam industri dengan menggunakan berbagai macam teknologi yang ada. Pabrik garam industri ini akan dibangun di Batang, Jawa Tengah dengan memperhatikan lokasi yang dekat dengan bahan baku, alat transportasi yang menunjang, serta belum ada industri yang dibangun di daerah Batang, Jawa Tengah. Proses pembuatan garam industri terdisi dari berbagai macam yaitu proses SAL-PROC, Zero Discharge Desalination, dan Desalinasi. Dari studi yang dilakukan dipilih proses Zero Discharge Desalination. Metode ini dipilih karena lebih baik daripada metode lainnya dengan memperhatikan beberapa faktor lainnya yaitu faktor kemampuan dalam memproduksi garam industri, jumlah dan harga alat yang diperlukan, serta perhitungan dalam analisa ekonomi.

Indonesia is one of the largest maritime countries in the world. However, Indonesia's abundant natural wealth has not been obtained by Indonesia because it requires the development of industries that can take advantage of Indonesia's natural wealth to reduce imports of materials needed by the Indonesian population. One industry that needs to be developed in Indonesia is the industrial salt production industry. Sea water has salinity because the earth is filled with mineral salts found in rocks and soil. For example sodium, potassium, calcium, and others. By paying attention to the composition of seawater, seawater can be processed into industrial salt production using a variety of existing technologies. This industrial salt factory will be built in Batang, Central Java by paying attention to the location that is close to raw materials, supporting transportation equipment, and no industry has been built in the Batang area, Central Java. The process of making industrial salts consists of various kinds, namely the SAL-PROC process, Zero Discharge Desalination, and Desalination. From the study carried out the process of Zero Discharge Desalination was selected. This method was chosen because it is better than other methods by taking into account several other factors, namely the ability factor in producing industrial salt, the amount and price of the tools needed, and calculations in economic analysis.
