Abstract

Dedak padi di Indonesia selama ini hanya dimanfaatkan menjadi pakan ternak saja. Padahal, dedak padi memiliki kandungan minyak yang tinggi (20%) sehingga dengan proses yang tepat, dedak padi dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi minyak goreng. Minyak dedak padi mengandung vitamin, antioksidan, dan nutrisi. Minyak dedak padi juga dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol dalam tubuh. Selain itu, minyak dedak padi mengandung kadar antioksidan yang tinggi, yaitu tokoferol, tokotrienol, dan oryzanol. Hingga saat ini belum ada pabrik minyak goreng dari dedak padi di Indonesia. Minyak goreng dari dedak padi dapat diproduksi melalui dua macam proses, yaitu proses ekstraksi menggunakan solvent dan mechanical press. Pada proses ekstraksi menggunakan solvent, minyak dedak padi diekstrak menggunakan pelarut berupa n-hexane. Sedangkan pada proses mechanical press, minyak dedak padi diekstrak dengan cara diberikan tekanan fisik. Dari studi yang telah dilakukan, proses ekstraksi menggunakan solvent lebih dipilih karena ditinjau dari aspek ekonomi, kebutuhan energi, nutrisi, dan kestabilan. Pabrik direncanakan beroperasi secara kontinu 24 jam selama 330 hari per tahun operasi. Pabrik minyak goreng dari dedak padi ini direncanakan mulai beroperasi pada tahun 2022 di Lamongan, Jawa Timur, yang dekat dengan sumber bahan baku dan mendukung kelancaran pemasaran. Modal diperoleh dengan perbandingan 60% modal sendiri dan 40% modal pinjaman, dengan internal rate of return (IRR) sebesar 26,2% dan break-even point (BEP) sebesar 30,79%. Berdasarkan analisis teknis dan ekonomi yang telah dilakukan, maka pabrik minyak goreng dari dedak padi ini layak didirikan.

Rice bran in Indonesia has so far only been utilized as animal feed. In fact, rice bran contains a high oil content (20%), so with the proper process it can be utilized to produce cooking oil. Rice bran oil contains vitamins, antioxidants, and nutrients. It can also reduce cholesterol levels in the body. In addition, rice bran oil contains high levels of antioxidants, namely tocopherol, tocotrienol, and oryzanol. To date, there has been no rice bran cooking oil factory in Indonesia. Rice bran cooking oil can be produced through two processes, namely solvent extraction and mechanical pressing. In the solvent extraction process, rice bran oil is extracted using n-hexane as the solvent. In the mechanical press process, the oil is extracted by applying physical pressure. Based on the conducted study, the solvent extraction process is preferred because it offers better economic performance, lower energy requirements, improved nutrient retention, and greater stability. The plant is designed to operate continuously for 24 hours a day and 330 days a year. The rice bran cooking oil plant is planned to begin operation in 2022 in Lamongan, East Java, due to its proximity to raw material sources and favorable marketing access. The investment is financed with 60% equity and 40% loan capital, resulting in an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 26.2% and a Break-Even Point (BEP) of 30.79%. Based on the technical and economic analyses, the proposed rice bran cooking oil plant is considered feasible to be established.
