Abstract

Wheel becomes a component that is related to passenger safety so that wheel must conform to the specifications specified. The manufacturing company that produces the car wheels of PT. Meshindo Alloy Wheel where the casting process, in 2018 produces the most defective product of 65.14%. casting process has characteristic defects that become Critical To Quality, namely shrinkage spoke, shrinkage rim, shrinkage hub, shrinkage face, leak and crack. In the process of casting if the product is found defective, the rim should be melted back, it makes the process further obstructed, so the analyst needs to be done statistically to know the goodness of the process by using analysis The capabilities of the casting process in phase I in February 2019 and Phase II in March 2019, then analysis to determine the root cause of the defective product using the Ishikawa diagram. The results of the analysis showed that in 2018 cause 80% of products are defective in casting due to the type of defect in the spoke. The casting process in phase I and phase II is not yet used and is a process shift where phase II production is better in phase I which can be demonstrated with the Sigma value at phase I smaller than the Sigma value in phase II. Factors – factors that cause defective products that are many new workers, found the thickness of the coating that does not conform to the standard, long-time cooling is not suitable, slow moving machines and mold can not absorb the heat well.
