Abstract

Many studies use plastic waste as an additive asphalt mixture. However, compaction temperature between 180oC-200 ° C is needed to make Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) plastic waste and asphalt homogeneous. The purpose of this study is to obtain the optimum temperature for compaction of the intermediate layer asphalt (AC-BC) with a predetermined temperature, so that the research of plastic waste with asphalt can be realized in the field and to reduce the impact of environmental pollution in Indonesia. In this study the asphalt layer used was the intermediate laston layer (AC-BC). The optimum bitumen content used is 5.80% and plastic bottle waste content is 3% of the total asphalt weight. The compaction temperature used is 100 ° C - 180 ° C with an interval of 100C temperature and aggregate proportions using data from Ahmad Faqihul Muqoddam's research which refers to the general specifications of the Ministry of Public Works Bina Marga Revised III in 2010. The method used in this study is a wet method . The making and testing of the test object is carried out in 2 stages, namely making the test object without addition and by adding PET. Based on the results of this study, the optimum temperature of conventional asphalt compaction of 160 ° C and stability of 1602.10 kN and MQ was 376.71 kg / mm while the results of modified asphalt with the addition of PET type platypes obtained an optimum compaction temperature of 180 ° C with a stability value of 2547 27 kN and MQ of 629.91 kg / mm.
